Artist
Statement
I create visual
works of art in a variety of medium, but my first love is oil
painting. In this endeavor I set out to produce works that represents
the truth of what I see in a style often characterized in the
art world as representational art or realism.
With regard
to my artistic endeavors, I find myself always at the beginning
of a new road. I’m constantly grappling to learn technique,
and the works that I’m currently creating are being done
in an effort to further the technical skills of my craft.
In the future
it is my hope to handle paint with a confidence that will allow
me to take on more complex subject matter. I look forward to my
work becoming more narrative, having deeper meaning, work that
embodies the human condition and evokes the viewer to see and
think of what they have never encountered before.
It is my goal
to not only evoke the viewer’s eye, but to move their heart,
mind, and soul. I desire to produce work that will stir the very
core of the viewer so as to reveal unseen truth about human kind,
like Rembrandt did with his painting ‘The Return of the
Prodigal Son.’ |
